Not only for a strong body but also a sound mind, engaging in sports has to be an essential part of growing up.

Regular sports activities aid the young and tender bodies of the little ones in several ways. Besides enhancing physical strength and immunity, sports activities also help the children to learn the vital skills of social interaction, team management, cooperation, and much more. It also acts as a confidence booster and instils the precious virtue of team spirit in every child. Here, in this article today, let us have a look at how sports help to shape the overall character and personality of the young minds.

Aids in Improved Health and Fitness

With physical movement comes the body flexibility. If a child plays regularly, the metabolism rate gets fueled, and the overall health of the child receives strength and energy. Also, it helps in maintaining and enhancing stamina, muscle strength, and bone strength. The immunity system is also likely to work more efficiently for children who engage in sporting activities. Children naturally have a flexible body, but when they practice sports, flexibility increases multifold. Hence, to maintain good health of your little one, make sure that they devote at least some time every day in any form of sports.

Boosts Self-Confidence

When a child plays with other children, he/she learns to adjust with the peers and becomes more adaptive and sensitive to the social environment. Managing a team of multiple people and tackling the issues that might arise in a team is a common part of playing around with friends. Hence, children also learn to cope with peer troubles when they indulge in sporting activities with their friends. This helps to boost their self-confidence by many folds.

Instills Sportsmanship in the Young Minds

The quality which we call sportsmanship consists of cooperation, leadership skills, and team spirit. A true sportsman is neither easily turned down by a loss, nor carried away by a triumph. Sports teach the kids to stay balanced between the extreme emotions and maintain the logical analysis power of the mind even during the darkest hours. Sports hence help kids to learn beyond books and develop their minds in a positive way.

Induces Discipline as a Part of Life

When a child enrols for sports activity, attending the practice sessions regularly on time and investing a certain amount of time for the practice becomes a part of their daily routine. This way, the kids learn to remain focused and disciplined. This attitude also turns helpful for them in maintaining the same level of order in their academic endeavours as well. Moreover, discipline is regarded as an essential virtue for every walk of life, and sports help to make it a part of one’s character.

Connects Children with Nature

In today’s world, when almost anything can be accessed sitting right at the corner of your room, keeping the children engaged in outdoor activities has become a challenge. As such, sports emerge as a great way to draw children out of their rooms and make them blend with society and nature.

We, at Gurukul The School, regarded as the topmost school in Ghaziabad, have always considered sports to be an essential element for the appropriate growth of children. We believe that though engaging in sports in important for kids, it is crucial to understand that since each child has a unique personality and taste, their preferences in sports may also vary. Hence, forcing your child to participate in the same sport that his/her friends do is never going to work. While as a parent, you must encourage your child to go out and play, let the kid decide the sports he/she would like to pursue.

At Gurukul, we have included sports as part and parcel of our curriculum and pedagogy as we believe it is essential for children to remain physically fit if they wish to excel in academics. Every year, we organize our annual sports day, which uplifts the spirit of sports among the young buds, several notches up. We organize inter-school and inter-state sports events for the sports enthusiasts of our school to encourage them to carry on their interests. We believe that education cannot be complete without sports, and we put in every effort to keep the kids roped to the games and sports as a part of their daily life.
